During this event, various prompts will be read, such as “brushing your teeth twice a day should be mandatory.” Attendees will then divide themselves into one of two groups, which are “agree” or “disagree.” We will then proceed with a discussion in which attendees can express their levels of agreement/disagreement, which is meant to stimulate a greater connection amongst people in our club.
This is a fun time to meet new people and express your thoughts in a new way! We also emphasize that this is a safe environment where all are welcome and bullying/negative attitudes will not be tolerated.
The University of Guelph Debate Club acknowledges that much of our work takes place within the Between the Lakes Purchase (Treaty 3); the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. It is recognized that the Anishinnabe and Hodinöhsö:ni’ peoples have unique, long-standing and on-going relationships with the land and each other and that the Attawandaron people are part of the archaeological record.
