In the seminar, we will explore the ethics of judging the past. The subject matter will take a look at how one should consider viewing the past and what takeaways one can have from injustice. Viewing past actions from a modern lens will be interesting, but we will learn what pushed the people from the past to make those decisions. These topics may be sensitive, but we will remain considerate and non-judgemental about the people we will be discussing.
This is a fun time to meet new people and express your thoughts in a new way! We also emphasize that this is a safe environment where all are welcome and bullying/negative attitudes will not be tolerated.
The University of Guelph Debate Club acknowledges that much of our work takes place within the Between the Lakes Purchase (Treaty 3); the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. It is recognized that the Anishinnabe and Hodinöhsö:ni’ peoples have unique, long-standing and on-going relationships with the land and each other and that the Attawandaron people are part of the archaeological record.
